Mikao Usui founded the spiritual practice of Reiki in 1922 and was a Buddhist monk. He noticed he could harness life force or universal (qi or chi) energy using symbols from the palms of his hands. Reiki is an energy healing practice that taps into our auric field and our life force energy and can thereby, according to the laws of quantum physics, be done from any place or time.
